MELATONIN AND THE BRAIN
The brain is made up of millions of brain cells. The brain
controls all body functions, from thinking and memory to all body
movements including the five senses. The brain operates on
electrical impulses which go from brain cell to brain cell. The only
way these millions of daily electrical impulses can move across the
brain cells is via liquid chemicals produced by the brain called
neurotransmitters. Throughout the day these neurotransmitters are
"used up" and need to be replaced through deep sleep.
The brain's main neurotransmitter is called acetylcholine. A lack
of acetylcholine can cause depression, senility, fatigue, poor
memory, anxiety and a slew full of other health related problems.
Taking dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) in capsule form early in the day
has proven to be the fastest, most efficient and safest way to
increase acetylcholine levels in the brain, therefore allowing the
brain to function optimally.
Melatonin, among other things, is used by the brain to go from
consciousness (awake) to unconsciousness (asleep). The deeper the
sleep, the greater the replenishment of neurotransmitters in the
brain. it is absolutely vital for optimum health that the brain gets
"deep" sleep. This is one reason melatonin has scientifically been
proven to benefit the brain during both the awake and sleep time.
