EXTENSION

Durk Pearson's and Sandy Shaw's #1 best-selling book
LIFE EXTENSION (Warner Books) on DMAE
"A deficiency of acetylcholine,
another neurotransmitter, can also lead to depression, Deaner®, a
prescription drug, increases acetylcholine levels in the brain. It
is both an active analog and a precursor of acetylcholine and is
effective in many old people as an anti-depressive--it reduces
apathy and increases motivation, as well as improving memory and
learning in old subjects and hyperkinetic children." "The bitarate
salt of dimethylaminoethanol has the same active constituent, DMAE.
Both increase the level of acetylcholine in the brain and body,
remove lipofuscin age pigment from cells in which it has
accumulated, and are free radical chain transfer agents. This means
that why alkylaminoalcohols such as DMAE are not antioxidants
themselves, they can capture a free radical and transfer it to
something else. In the presence of adequate antioxidants, they often
improve the free radical scavenging ability of these other
antioxidants." (pg. 484)
"Low acetylcholine levels contribute to the
forgetfulness and lack of ability to concentrate which often occurs
in old age. The cholinergic nervous system also controls the sensory
input: too little acetylcholine and you are easily distracted by
stimuli in your environment, whether you are trying to think (loss
of concentration) or sleep (awakening too easily). In addition, too
low acetylcholine levels cannot support normal motor (muscular
activity) control and coordination and motor response falter. The
cholinergic nervous system in the body keeps mucous membranes
lubricated and moist; without adequate acetylcholine levels in body
tissues, the mucous membranes become dry, more easily irritated,
infected and damaged. Finally, acetylcholine is an important
motivational chemical, along with the catecholamines." (pg. 131)
"Neurotransmitters are made by the brain from the
nutrient substances you eat in your food. For examples,
acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter which is important in the parts
of the brain affecting primitive emotions like sex and the degree of
responsiveness to the outside stimuli (as in alertness versus
sleep), and also plays a very important role in memory, learning,
and long-term planning. Deaner® has been used with some success in
the treatment of senility." (pg. 126)
"Mr. Smith" says that two to three grams of
choline per day, along with about 250 milligrams of Deanol or
Deaner® a day, had a beneficial effect on his speaking ability,
verbal facility and recall, so that he could remember to say things
during an interview instead of afterward when it was too late. Once
he spoke effortlessly for two hours at an event, whereas ordinarily
he would speak for only a short time, like ten minutes. One time, he
told us, "I couldn't shut myself up!" "Mr. Smith" used to be a man
of few words in his public appearances, but the elevated levels of
his brain acetylcholine have brought him a new facility with spoken
word.
He did experience slight neck stiffness at first
with Deaner®, but the symptom soon vanished (he developed a
tolerance to it)." (pg. 737)
* Mr. Smith is commonly known to be movie star
Clint Eastwood.
